Privacy policy

Short version: Herewise does not collect, store or sell any personal data, and the text you read never leaves your browser.
The extension
- What it reads. It looks at the text of the pages you visit, inside your browser, to find times, units and prices and add a label next to them. That text is processed on your device and is never sent anywhere.
- What it stores. Your settings (time zone, currency, metric or imperial, which switches are on, sites you paused) and a cached copy of the latest exchange rates. They live in your browser's own extension storage on your device.
- The only network request. It downloads exchange rates from api.frankfurter.dev, a free service that republishes European Central Bank rates. The request contains no page content and no identifier of you; like any web request, the service can see your IP address. The rates are cached for 12 hours.
- What it does not do. No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no selling or sharing of data, and no remote code.
Why it asks for access to all websites
To find a time or a price on a page it has to be able to read that page's text, on whichever site you happen to be on. It uses this only to add labels. It does not change the text on the page and skips text fields, code blocks and editable areas.
This website
This website uses no analytics and no cookies. Your choice of light or dark appearance is saved in your browser's local storage on your device, and nowhere else. The converters on these pages run in your browser; the currency pages load the exchange rate directly from api.frankfurter.dev.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
